How to Read Standard Instance Tables
These tables describe standard instances defined and maintained by POSC. These POSC-defined
reference entity instances form part of the Epicentre specification.
The name of the entity for which the standard instances are defined is declared at the
top of the table. Selecting this name will cause Browser to jump to the entity in the dictionary.
This name is followed by either "(Fixed)", "(Open)" or "(Local)". These designations define
the conditions by which POSC allows extensions (e.g., additional rows) to the standard instances.
These definitions are:
- POSC Fixed - These have a fixed number of POSC-defined instances. All and only the
standard instances will be present in the instance base.
- POSC Open - The same as POSC Fixed except additions not specified by POSC are allowed.
- Local - No POSC-specified instances, all the instances are defined by other coordinating bodies.
All standard instances have two additional characteristics to describe the source and
bibliography of the instance information.
The italicized values in columns which point to other entities may be clicked in order to
jump to the corresponding value in the other entity.
